"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Sucker-Punches the Competition
Making for another tight battle for the top spot, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" ended up snatching the pole position at the weekend box office from March 25-27, 2011.
The David Bowers directed book-based comedy started a bit slow before enjoying a late surge to pull out the win with an estimated $24 million in earnings.
Not far behind, the Zack Snyder spearheaded fantasy flick "Sucker Punch" starring Vanessa Hudgens finished in second with a box office approximate total of $20 million on its opening weekend of release.
Rounding out the top five films were Bradley Cooper's "Limitless" ($15 million), along with "The Lincoln Lawyer" ($10.5 million) and "Rango" ($10 million).
