Venice Film Festival Kicks Off With Keira Knightley

If you’re a movie buff, chances are you’re off to Italy for the Venice Film Festival, kicking off today. And stars like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Keira Knightley are already in the boot-shaped country to promote their latest works.

There are a total of 57 films being featured at this year’s festival, 15 of them American movies. The Brits are contributing 7 projects as well. One of the UK’s entries, “Atonement,” starring Knightley, received the honor of opening the event.

“Michael Clayton” starring George Clooney, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” starring Brad Pitt, and “I’m Not There” starring Heath Ledger, Richard Gere, Diane Kruger, Christian Bale, and Cate Blanchett are among the US films being shown.

We’ll have more news from Venice as this cornucopia of celebrity unfolds. With this many rich, beautiful, powerful people in one city, there’s sure to be plenty of gossip to report!
