David Beckham Brings the Torch to the Olympics In Style
After much speculation about how he would be involved in the summer games, David Beckham did his part by bringing the Olympic Torch to the London Stadium.
The 37-year-old soccer star drove a speedboat carrying the torch, which was held by rising soccer star Jade Bailey along the Thames River and under the Tower of London towards the jam-packed landmark stadium.
Before the ceremony, the LA Galaxy athlete exclaimed, "Today is going to be an amazing moment."
When the ceremonious activities were underway, the handsome hometown hero smiled in a dashing black suit as river water sprayed around him.
Speaking of his London pride, Beckham said, "I am going to be just proud just to be there as a fan more than anything," adding, "In a part of London where I grew up playing soccer over the fields that have been changed now. As a fan and an Englishman I am going to be very proud."
