Dave Matthews Band Pays Tribute to LeRoi Moore
They’re one of the top jam bands in the world today, synonymous with good times and free spirits. But last night the Dave Matthews Band experienced bitter sadness.
Earlier in the day, one of the band’s founding members, saxophonist LeRoi Moore died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center due to complications from an all-terrain vehicle accident earlier this summer.
Following the first song of their set at the sold out Staples Center in Los Angeles, band leader Dave Matthews told the crowd, "We all had some bad news today. Our good friend LeRoi Moore passed on and gave his ghost up today and we will miss him forever."
A few songs later, Matthews alluded to the grief he and his bandmates were feeling with his comment, "It's easier to leave than be left."
