Daniel Radcliffe to Cast a Spell Upon Broadway
Ready to take his acting career back to the big stage, Daniel Radcliffe is set to play the lead role in Martin McDonagh’s 1996 production of "The Cripple of Inishmaan."
The show had a successful run in London in 2013, with staging run by Michael Grandage, and will occupy New York City's own Cort Theatre from April 20th through July 20th of this year.
The play's synopsis states that it is "Set on the small Aran Islands community of Inis Meáin off the Western Coast of Ireland, c. 1934, the inhabitants are excited to learn of a Hollywood film crew's arrival in neighboring Inis Mór to make a documentary about life on the islands."
"'Cripple' Billy Claven, eager to escape the gossip, poverty and boredom of Inishmaan, vies for a part in the film, and to everyone's surprise, the orphan and outcast gets his chance."
