DWTS: Aly Raisman Vaults to the Top of the Leaderboard
With the competition heating up in the ballroom, week four of “Dancing with the Stars” asked the celebrities to recall the best year of their life.
Before the dancing could get started, there was a noticeable absence during the introductions, as Lisa Vanderpump, who fainted during a practice on Thursday (April 4), sat out the intro to rest up for her performance.
Claiming 2012 as her best year, gymnast Aly Raisman and her shirtless pro Mark Ballas took to the dance floor and performed a contemporary dance to “Titanium,” complete with a cartwheel, handstand, and a backflip. The crowd, and more importantly the judges, deemed the dance “going for gold” and awarded the duo the night’s highest score of 27.
Disney star Zendaya and her professional Val Chmerkovskiy sambaed their way in to second place with a tribute to the year she was discovered and started working in Los Angeles - 2009, to Beyonce’s “Love on Top”. Judge Bruno Tonioli gushed “So cool. So hip. ... Every kid that watches you wants to go out and dancelike it." Their score for the evening was 26.
Not having as much luck in the ballroom were the evening's low scoring couples, boxer Victor Ortiz and his partner Lindsay Arnold, who danced the paso doble to Queen’s hit “We Will Rock You,” landing them a score of 18.
Also winding up with an 18 for their efforts were Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko, who despite Lisa’s still feeling a bit under the weather danced their hearts out doing the cha cha to "Celebration."
Check below to see where all the stars placed on the leaderboard, and don’t forget to tune in on Tuesday night (April 9) for the results show to see which celebrity will hang up their dancing shoes.
