Christian Bale’s Failed Foreign Relations in China
He’s always looking to raise awareness of injustice, but when Christian Bale tried to draw attention to a Chinese human rights activist, he ran into trouble.
The “American Psycho” actor brought a CNN camera crew with him to China and attempted to visit Chen Guangcheng at his home where he’s been detained since 2010.
But local police were absolutely opposed to Bale’s agenda, and promptly forced Christian and his entourage to leave the premises.
Once back in his vehicle, Bale shared, "I don't feel brave doing this. The local people who stand up to authorities [and] insist on visiting Chen and his family are getting beaten up for it, and to my understanding, getting detained for it. I want to support what they're doing."
