He’s experienced a meteoric rise to fame thanks to his charming disposition and boyish good looks, and now Channing Tatum has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2012.

The “Magic Mike” hunk told the magazine that it was difficult to believe the news- “My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me. I told [my wife] Jenna [Dewan-Tatum] after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked.”

Report: Channing Tatum to be Named People's 2012 "Sexiest Man Alive"

Though the movie in which he played a stripper may have had something to do with it, Channing Tatum will reportedly be named People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2012 next week.

The "Magic Mike" star would be unveiled as the popular magazine's choice on November 14th. Past honorees include Bradley Cooper in 2011 and Ryan Reynolds in 2010.

Paramount Pictures learned a valuable lesson recently: Don't kill off Channing Tatum. The upcoming "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" movie was pushed back to March 29th, 2013 after it was determined that reshoots were needed.

The reasons for the tweaking were so-so test scores and the poor decision to kill off the "Magic Mike" star, whose starpower has recently rocketed thanks to "Magic Mike."
