Salaries of World's Top Disc Jockeys Will Make Your Head Spin
Who wouldathunk spinning records could be so lucrative? The just-released Forbes list of the world’s highest-grossing disc jockeys might just make your head spin.
In first place, DJ Calvin Harris, who has a two-year deal at Las Vegas’ monster club, Hakkasan. Combine that gig with his producing duties for superstars like Rihanna, and Forbes says Harris earned a smashing $46 million for his mashups this past year.
"The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years," Harris says. "I happened to be in the right place at the right time."
Oher top-earning DJs: Tiësto, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Deadmau5 all made more than $20 million each. And Pauly D, of “Jersey Shore” fame, raked in $13 million. Amazing how one can spin a life of “gym, tan, laundry” into gold.
