Joe and Teresa Giudice Request Separate Trials in Fraud Case
They've been up against legal troubles for quite some time, and now Teresa Giudice and husband Joe filed requests to conduct separate trials in the federal indictment they face.
"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" couple have been charged with 41 counts of fraud, involving both bankruptcy and loan fraud, and separating the trials will have drastic effects on the proceedings.
Detailing the arrangements, the court document states, "Should the trials be severed, Mr. Giudice has affirmed his willingness to testify as to Teresa’s involvement in the alleged criminal activity. He would be unable to do so in a joint trial wherein his Fifth Amendment rights are invoked."
Due back to the court proceedings on April 9th of this year, there are no guarantees that the case will be separated, but the Giudice couple remains hopeful.
