Former "GMA" Co-Host Joan Lunden Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
Heading back to her spot on the "Good Morning America" desk, for co-host Joan Lunden made a very serious announcement on Tuesday (June 24).
The 63-year-old announced that she is battling breast cancer and took a moment to talk to Robin Roberts (who is currently in remission) about her diagnosis.
Lunden's cancer, which she called "the aggressive kind," was discovered during an ultrasound after doctors missed it on a mammogram. Joan will start treatments in the coming months and is expected to undergo chemotherapy.
Joan wrote about her experience on her blog and said, "I have decided to talk about my breast cancer because since the moment I took the job at Good Morning America I have lived my life sharing my joys and my disappointments with all of you: my pregnancies, my relationships, my career… I have shared my journey. So it certainly didn’t feel right keeping this part of my journey a secret."
