“The Hunger Games” Sequel Selects Director

It was a bit of a shock when Gary Ross announced he’d be parting ways with the ultra-successful “The Hunger Games” franchise, but Lionsgate has already found a new director to take his place.
According to a report, Francis Lawrence will get the offer to helm “Catching Fire,” and he’ll more than likely accept the gig.
Lawrence has made a name for himself thanks to films like “I Am Legend” and “Water for Elephants,” and music videos for Britney Spears and Aerosmith.
It seems the tight production schedule has made the director’s chair a hard one to fill, as both Ross and proposed successor Bennett Miller both turned down the gig because Jennifer Lawrence has to be done shooting by the end of the year.
