It was a gutsy move to try and remake the much-beloved “The Sound of Music,” and last night (December 5) Carrie Underwood and her cast did their best to bring the Von Trapp Family story alive.

And as could be expected, there were plenty of folks on both sides of the approval line, and they took to Twitter to share their opinions.

“Parks and Recreation” star Rob Lowe tweeted, “Ok, so some of the acting is pretty bad, but you can’t have everything. #Sound of Music.”

On a more positive note, Kelly Clarkson praised, “@carrieunderwood Y'all did great!Brandon & I just finished watching & what an intense 3hrs that must have been 4 all of y'all! #singinglive,” and Miranda Lambert raved, “Wow! The Sound Of Music Live was awesome. @carrieunderwood unbelievable! I can't imagine the work that went into that. Such a talented cast!”

Taking a different approach, Joan Rivers offered some harsh critique- “The Sound of Music Live is tonight and Carrie Underwood’s ‘favorite things’ should be people who haven’t seen Julie Andrews in the original.”
