Bryan Singer Finally Speaks Out Against "Vicious & Completely False" Sexual Assault Allegations
After sexual claims damaged his reputation last week, Bryan Singer finally broke his silence on the topic Thursday afternoon (April 24).
In a statement, the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" director said the "allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false."
Singer added that he is removing himself from media coverage for his upcoming film because he doesn't want to take any attention away from it.
“I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career. So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I’ve decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film,” Singer wrote.
Bryan continued, “However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shake down it is. I want to thank fans, friends and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support.”
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Michael Egan named Bryan in a sexual assault case, stating that the director abused him on multiple occasion when he was a teenager in the late 1990s.
