Brad Paisley & LL Cool J Stir Up Controversy with Collaboration

A collaboration between pals Brad Paisley and LL Cool J which was meant to tackle the topic of racism, is causing controversy of its own.

The song, “Accidental Racist,” was leaked on Monday (April 8), just a day ahead of the country crooner’s latest album’s release.

The lyrics for the tune start out with Paisley talking about being ”caught between southern pride and southern blame,” while LL’s rap comes in saying, “Just because my pants are saggin’ doesn’t mean I’m up to no good.”

To some, the collaboration does not sound overly apologetic and has left many wondering what the point of the whole thing is.

Paisley defended the song to Entertainment Weekly saying, "I'm doing it because it just feels more relevant than it even did a few years ago. I think that we're going through, an adolescence in America when it comes to race. You know, it's like we're almost grown up. You have these little moments as a country where it's like, 'Wow things are getting better.' And then you have one where it's like, 'Wow, no they're not.'"
