Disney Announces Live Action “Beauty and the Beast” Project!
Back in 1991 the animated version of “Beauty and the Beast” scored a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards and now Disney has unveiled plans for a live action version of the flick.
Under the direction of “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” helmsman Bill Condon, the Mandeville Films production will be penned by Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Given the massive $170 million opening weekend for fellow Disney live action flick “Maleficent,” it’s no wonder the House of Mouse is so interested in pursuing this direction.
They’re also working on a live action version of “Cinderella” as well as “The Jungle Book,” directed by Kenneth Branagh and Jon Favreau, respectively.
