Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr Talk Ed Sullivan Theater Memories
Bringing an end to their 50th anniversary celebrations, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater to discuss their first appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” with current tenant David Letterman.
The beloved drummer explained, “I was just so excited. Even coming back yesterday, it’s like, ‘Oh I’m getting involved in the excitement of it all [back] then.’ Now I’m here, I’m looking out the window, I’m in the plaza and all the kids were down there. And now we’re back on the stage again.”
Ringo also noted, “The memory I have… is like it was four times bigger than this. You felt there were thousands of them.”
“But it’s like going back to your old school, isn’t it? Everything’s little now, but you thought it was huge,” added Paul.
On Sunday night (February 9) Paul and Ringo appeared on “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles” along with superstars like Katy Perry, John Mayer and Keith Urban.
