Ariel Winter's Sister Retains Guardianship; Emotional Abuse Indicated
After reviewing the Department of Children and Family Services report, a judge has determined that Ariel Winter's sister shall remain the temporary guardian of the "Modern Family" star until a full trial is held.
Judge Michael Levanas noted that the L.A. county Children's Services report had indicated that the 14-year-old was subjected to some emotional abuse, though physical abuse allegations were inconclusive.
Ariel's mother, Crystal Workman, has repeatedly denied any abuse, but the Department also recommended that the actress' older sister, Shanelle Workman, be granted permanent guardianship.
A full hearing on the issue of permanent guardianship will be held on December 12th, but in the meantime, Ms. Winter will remain in the care of her sister.
