Angelina Jolie: Visiting with Syrian Refugees in Jordan
Devoting her time to humanitarian efforts, Angelina Jolie spent some time at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan earlier today (September 11).
The UN High Commission for Refugees Special Envoy and staff engaged with the displaced people, part of the 250,000 total who have fled Syria for Jordan.
According to Jolie, there are over 85,000 registered refugees with an additional 36,000 awaiting processing, and that’s not counting the thousands who haven’t gotten into the system yet.
Of the situation, Angelina told press, “I am very concerned, the world is very concerned. What is very heartbreaking is when Syrian people ask you why you think no one is able to find a solution for them.”
“What they described on the ground, hearing it from them is so horrific. When you meet so many innocent people and civilians, the people of Syria are asking who is on their side. ‘Who is going to help us as the months go on?’”
