Its ratings are suffering even after bringing on All Star judges, and "American Idol" is finding ways to boost its audience with a different broadcast approach.

On Monday (May 12), Fox executive Kevin Reilly announced that the singing competition is making a comeback for its 14th season with a different "streamlined" approach.

After its typical two-night model during the always entertaining audition phase, "Idol" is dropping its broadcast down to a single night for the weeks of its competition.

In addition to the different approach to the air time, Reilly announced that judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. are "likely" to make a comeback.
