It's been battling an uphill battle for ratings, but Ryan Seacrest and Harry Connick Jr. are convinced that this season's "American Idol" will return to its former glory.

Speaking to People at the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City on Friday (December 13), the longtime host shares, "The judges are so fun and they are having such a good time and they are getting along so well that I think you will see your old American Idol back on the air."

Famously, last season saw judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj reportedly at each other's throats, but the new judge and fan of the show insists that this year will be drama-free.

Admitting last year's struggles, Harry says, " It was a little bit off, but this year it's going to get back on track but it's got to be about the contestants. I think we are all concerned about finding the best contestant. Jen[nifer Lopez] and Keith [Urban] are incredibly well-qualified to be sitting up there. They are superstars and incredible talents, so hopefully the three of us will provide something fresh and exciting." Check out a preview of the new season of "American Idol" below.
