Alexander Skarsgard: Adventurous Life
Before becoming a hit evil vampire on the series, “True Blood,” Alexander Skarsgard was an anti-terrorist marine from Sweden.
The actor, son of famous actor Stellan Skarsgard, knew he wanted to do something dangerous in his life and enrolled in Sweden’s national service at age 19, practicing battle tactics, combat and anti-sabotage assaults.
"I hated it most of the time, because a lot of the guys I served with wanted to be James Bond," he tells press. "I was a hippie. But it was good for me."
But even though Alexander cannot “strip a gun and that sort of thing” he makes clear that he was training in Sweden and not Iraq. "People don’t shoot us, so you can’t really... I never left Sweden," he tells the Telegraph. "Our last war was 200 years ago."
