Aishwarya Rai & Christy Turlington Team Up for 'Every Woman Every Child'
Getting all glammed up for a worthwhile cause, Aishwarya Rai and Christy Turlington were among the famous faces on hand for the 2012 United Nations Every Woman Every Child Dinner in New York City on Tuesday night (September 25).
The Indian film actress looked ravishing in a red and gold floor length dress while the former Calvin Klein model looked chic in a black trench coat overtop her blue hued ensemble.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who launched the foundation, explained the impact of their initiative, saying, “In just two years, Every Woman Every Child has achieved important results in accelerating progress for women and children,” adding, "I am encouraged that so many global leaders have galvanized action around key issues like family planning, child survival and access to essential commodities. Even in these times of austerity, there is no better investment than the health of women and children.”
As for the foundation, "Every Woman Every Child" first started back in September of 2010 with a mission of saving the lives of 16 million women and children by the year 2015. As of now, $10 billion has already been disbursed to help accomplish the organization's lofty goals.
